You obsess about your weight, you “decide” and repeatedly tell yourself you’re going to lose weight, but in the end you cannot control your weight.
Do you disagree with this statement? Ok, go stand on a scale and decide to lose 5 pounds.
How did that work out for you? Did your bodyweight drop on your command, or did it not budge?
Nope, it didn’t budge.
Here’s the point… You spend your precious time obsessing about your weight as if you can magically control it.
The positive side of the story is that you have total control over a couple of major things that influence your weight. I’m talking about your choices regarding what you eat and when you exercise.
Think about it. Your current weight is the sum result of your choices with eating and exercise.
Take a second to think back over the last few years of your life and ask yourself these 3 important questions:
- What types of foods did you eat most often?
- How intensely did you exercise?
- For how long and how often did you exercise?
Now look at yourself in a full view mirror. You are looking at the result of your past choices. You have made a conscious decision to have this form.
If you are pleased with what you see then keep on eating and exercising the way you have been. It’s working for you!
If you’re not satisfied with what you see, then it’s time to start making different choices about food and exercise. Here are some suggestions:
Choices with regard to Food:
- Choose to eat wholesome foods that nourish the body
- Choose to only eat when hungry and to stop eating when full
- Choose to not eat junk food, sugary drinks or sweets
- Choose to eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables every day
Choices with regard to Exercise:
- Choose to get up early in the morning, when you could be sleeping, to invest an hour of time in exercise
- Choose to be consistent with your workout schedule, giving exercise the same importance as a doctor’s appointment
- Choose to change your workout routine regularly and always keep your muscles guessing
- Choose to push yourself to new levels of exercise intensity – to strengthen and tone your muscles
Don’t waste time obsessing about the number on your scale. Focus your attention on choices you make regarding what you eat, when you eat and how you exercise.
